Dr. Neal discusses oral appliance alternative to CPAP in sleep apnea video
![]()
October 24, 2007 -- The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recognizes comfortable oral appliances as an alternative to CPAP for patients with mild to moderate Sleep Apnea and for patients with severe Sleep Apnea who do not tolerate CPAP.
The nice things about oral appliances are there are no masks, no hoses and no noisy compressors.
CPAP is actually a marvelous invention according Dr. Neal.
It works great for people who tolerate it. Problem is only about one third of the patients prescribed CPAP actually use it. They often only wear it a few hours a night, not the prescribed 7 1/2 hours and this is dangerous. Many do not take it with them when they travel especially since the new TSA rules have made travel with CPAP more difficult.

Dr. Neal can fit you with the oral appliance that will be most comfortable for your situation and test to make sure it is giving you the best result compared to CPAP
