Dr. neal on Fox TV discussing the Periolase
What is really going on?
Research is finding that there are countless bacteria hanging around in you mouth. Some of them are good and some of them are really nasty. The nasty ones wait for a chance to bore deep into your tissues and clobber your body. These primarily are called gram negative anaerobes I think we should call them "GRAM NASTIES".

What it means is these anaerobes hate oxygen, and do lots of damage to tissue. The Periolase due to its specific wavelength targets these bugs almost exclusively, and vaporizes them.
There is a strong body of evidence that gum disease and heart disease, stroke, diabetes and low fetal birth weight are strongly connected.
But....

The reason we offer the Periolase Laser treatment is because most of the patients whom I have referred to our periodontist for gum surgery don't go. They are afraid! Many have had one side of the mouth done and refuse to go back. They would rather risk losing their teeth than go for treatment.

I think you deserve another option. Dr, Ed Zinnman , a prosecuting Periodontist-Attorney in California states that the Periolase LANAP treatment option is part of the current "standard of Care" for periodontal treatment in this country.

Periolase by Millenium Dental Technologies is unique among lasers. It was designed to treat periodontal disease in a unique way. It uses a very short high energy pulse of photon energy to attack specific bacteria hiding in periodontal pockets. This Laser4 utilizes a wavelength specific for certain bacterial strains and tissue. The effect s to vaporize the harmful bacteria and create a fibrin clot to seal up the area. The protocol has been developed over several years by Dr. Robert Gregg and Dr. Del McCarthy. Due to its specific wavelength and proprietary design, the Periolase can also be used for several other soft tissue procedures listed below.

The gum treatment is called LANAP (short for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) and is Patented and FDA approved.

Dr. Neal has received extensive training by Dr. Gregg and Dr. McCarthy. He is the only dentist in McHenry County with the Periolase .LANAP® (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure - cementum-mediated new periodontal ligament attachment to the root surface in the absence of long junctional epithelium) is a patented, bold breakthrough technique for dentists to treat periodontal disease in a general or periodontal practice setting. It offers your patients a significantly less traumatic alternative to traditional periodontal surgery.
