Our office is designed to be child friendly.
From the first visit, we take care to make sure you child has a great experience at Crystal Lake Dental Associates. When you walk into toe reception room, you will immediately notice the Salt Water Reef Tank filled with Nemo and his friends. The children have their own kid play area with a TV monitor streaming cartoons.
Our team will make your children comfortable.
Our helpful team will show you and your children around our beautiful office offering refreshments and explaining what we will be doing. Our hygienists love children so much, they even have their own children's pictures posted in the treatment rooms. We have special teaching aids for fearful children with Kangaroo. Dr. Neal likes to make his world famous glove face balloons for the younger kids. The kids love it.
Happy visits for the fearful or first timer.
If your child is very young, apprehensive, or it is their first visit to the dentist,we offer a complimentary "Happy Visit' whereby the child is introduced to the office and given a ride in the big chair. If the child is doing well, we can proceed to provide a cleaning and examination.
Mom and Dad are welcome to join the child.
Mom and Dad are welcome in the treatment area at all times. We take the time to show and explain everything to the parent and child. We offer examinations, cleanings, x-rays, fluroide treatments, sealants, fillings, advice on homecare, harmful habits, and proper nutrition. A goody bag is given to the child with appropriate home hygiene aids including a light up firefly toothbrush for the smaller children. These are a real hit with the kids. After the appointment, the children are shown the treasure chest where they can choose a toy reward for their visit.
Older children and teens
We have age appropriate methods for older children and teens as well. Dr. Neal will check for decay, any abnormal development and make the needed recommendations . Dr. Neal will alert you if braces bay me needed for the child and make the appropriate referral.
Special advanced devices and materials
We use the DIAGNOdent, ( a painless laser), to shine into teeth to look for decay. We have found that the DIAGNOdent is much more accurate that a visual exam or x-rays for locating decay below the surface of the teeth. We do not place silver (mercury fillings at this office. The FDA and ADA has determined that silver (mercury fillings are not recommended for pregnant women or small children. In fact Dr. Neal will not place these fillings at all and has stopped placing them for over a decade. In our office, we use and recommend a fluoride varnish after the teeth are cleaned, It provides the highest level of ongoing protection over 6 months with one application. It is completely safe and simple compared to the foams gels and rinses.

We welcome your entire family, including children, to our practice. Plan to bring your children to see us around age three so that they can develop a positive attitude about dental visits, and we can make sure their oral health is on track.
